The Dodgers decided a year was long enough for their franchise record for homers in a month. Justin Turner hit a line drive into the left field seats in the ninth inning for the 54th Dodgers’ homer in the month of June, breaking the record of 53 they set exactly one year ago to the day.
It was the only offense the Dodgers could muster Friday night in a 3-1 loss to the Rockies.

The surge in homers has coincided with the team turning their season around in mid-May. Since May 17, the Dodgers have gone 27-12 with 71 home runs in 39 games.
10 different Dodgers hit a home run in June, led by Joc Pederson and Max Muncy, who have each homered 10 times. The two have combined to become the first pair of Dodgers with 10 homers in the same month.
Cody Bellinger hit eight to double his total to 16 in 2018, while Matt Kemp and Kiké Hernandez have each hit six.
With 110 homers in 81 games this season, the Dodgers are on pace for 220 which would leave them one shy of last year’s record of 221. They have hit at least three homers in a game 10 times in June after accomplishing that just three times in the previous 56 games.
The Dodgers will have one more shot at furthering their record when they play the Rockies Saturday in the final day of the month.
