Player of the day
The Dodgers announced signing Ronny Brito, a 16-year old shortstop out of the Dominican Republic, on July 2, 2015 for reportedly $2 million. Josh Byrnes, senior vice president of baseball operations said at that time, “Brito has a real chance [to remain at shortstop]. He’s a nice combination of tools and skills, to be able to play short and swing the bat.”
Brito played in the Dominican Summer League in 2016 and in 2017, he split time at both the AZL Dodgers and Ogden. This season, after a short stop in the Dominican Summer League, Brito has been playing for the Ogden Raptors. In 125 plate appearances, Brito is hitting .322./378/.574 with 7 home runs and 34 runs batted in.
On Sunday, he went 3-for-4 with a home run. Oh, he also drove in eight runs.
