J.T. Chargois hits DL

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at Los Angeles Dodgers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

After exiting last nights game six pitches in, J.T. Chargois has been placed on the DL with a neck injury. Replacing Chargois in the bullpen will be switch-pitcher Pat Venditte.

On Monday night, Chargois quickly got ahead in the count 0-2. He then proceeded to throw four consecutive balls, all outside of the zone. After the game, it was announced he left the game with discomfort in his neck and arm.

On the year, the right-handed Chargois is 2-4 with a 3.45 ERA. In 31 13 innings he has 38 strikeouts.

Since July 3, Chargois has been among one of the better relievers in baseball. He owns a 1.88 ERA and opponents are hitting .176 off of him.

For Venditte, this will be his team-leading eighth time with the club this year. In five appearances, his ERA is 8.31. Venditte hasn’t pitched in a major-league game since June 8.

In other news, Ross Stripling hopes to be activated off of the DL again this weekend. He will likely throw a simulated game on Friday.

He was placed on the 10-day DL on August 15 with lower back inflammation.
