Before Thursday’s game, Dave Roberts announced Alex Wood will be moved to the bullpen for the remainder of the season.
For Wood, he has come out of the bullpen in 37 of his career 166 games as a big-leaguer. He started the 2017 season in the bullpen, where he only made two appearances.
This comes after one of Wood’s worst starts of the season. In his last outing, Wood allowed seven runs on eight hits in 3 2⁄3 innings versus the Reds.
For Wood, he will be used in high-leverage situations, for roughly 1-2 innings at a time.
Moving forward, Ross Stripling will be added back to the starting rotation.
For the final month of the season, it appears that the Dodgers’ rotation will be Clayton Kershaw, Rich Hill, Ross Stripling, Hyun-Jin Ryu and Walker Buehler.
