With 10 games remaining in the season, every game will be the biggest game of the year for the Los Angeles Dodgers. But none may be more important or crucial than tonight.
LA has a chance to take a 2 1⁄2 game lead in the division with nine games remaining, giving the Colorado Rockies a daunting task at trying to catch up.
However, if LA loses, they will lead the division by only 1⁄2 a game, in which anything can happen over the course of the final week.
Getting the nod for the Dodgers will be Walker Buehler. The rookie has struggled against the Rockies this season, with LA winning only one of the four games he’s started. In 30 1⁄3 innings pitched, Buehler has a 4.45 ERA .
His last start against them came 11 days ago in Colorado, where he allowed four runs in six innings. He’s only faced the Rockies at home once this year, and it was arguably his best start against them this season. He allowed one run in seven innings, but the Dodgers took the loss.
The Dodgers will be facing Tyler Anderson, who has an ERA of just under five for the season. In his career, Anderson owns a 4.10 ERA against LA. He last faced the Dodgers back on September 9, where he allowed four runs in 2 2⁄3 innings.
His previous two starts against LA he was lights out, allowing one run over the course of 14 innings.
The Dodgers are currently one of the hottest teams in baseball, having won six of their last seven games. If they’re able to win tonight, they’ll take a two-and-a-half game lead into the final home series of the year vs. San Diego.
