For a while it looked like Brewers would win the NL wild card game, but the Nationals staged a late rally and will face the Dodgers in the NLDS.

We took a quick look at the Nationals, a snapshot of the two teams, and how Washington’s two-starter gambit in the wild card game compares to Arizona’s experience two years earlier.

This was recorded before the announcement of Walker Buehler starting Game 1, though we did discuss the reasons for various rotation scenarios, including Buehler’s ascendance to top dog status.

These two teams had the same record from May 24 through the end of the regular season (74-38), tied for the best in the NL. Of course, the season started eight weeks earlier, which provided the 13-game gap in their full-season marks. But now the only record that matters is the one starting Thursday at Dodger Stadium.
