Two Dodgers players landed nominations for two of the most coveted baseball awards that exist. Hyun-Jin Ryu is slated for the NL Cy Young category while Cody Bellinger is a finalist for the NL MVP award.

Ryu, the first of the two to be announced, had the best season of his career in 2019. The left hander’s 2.32 ERA lead the entire major leagues, and his 1.007 WHIP was third in the NL.

The other two finalists for the NL Cy Young are Mets right hander Jacob deGrom and Nationals right hander Max Scherzer. deGrom and Scherzer have each won a Cy Young award before, with Scherzer taking home the title three times in his seasoned career.

It is the first time Ryu is a finalist for this award.

On the other side, Cody Bellinger was announced as a finalist for the NL MVP award. He finished his 2019 campaign with a .305/.406/.629 batting line and even showed off on defense enough to win the 2019 Gold Glove award for right field.

Up against him is Brewers center fielder and reigning MVP Christian Yelich and Nationals third baseman and World Series champion Anthony Rendon.

It is also the first time Bellinger is being considered for this end-of-the-year award.
