Dodgers of the Decade: Right Field

Yasiel Puig was arguably the second best Dodger position player in the 2010s, he’ll be here with Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier and Cody Bellinger

We finish the outfield positions on the Dodgers of the Decade team today with a look at right field. This was the strongest offensive position for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2010s with the total position split of .279/.352/.478 with 274 home runs.

So far Matt Kemp and Cody Bellinger have won their polls to be the left fielder and center fielder on the Dodgers of the Decade team.

The qualifications to make this ballot is a minimum 100 games played at right field and there is a poll at the bottom of the article where True Blue LA readers will get to vote for their choice.

There were four players appeared in at least 100 games from 2010-2019 at right field and here they are in order of games played there:

  • Yasiel Puig had one of the greatest first months of any Dodger when he first game up in 2013. He played the bulk of his Dodger career in right field, playing 615 games in right field from 2013 through 2018. He was an All-Star in 2014.
  • Andre Ethier was the starting right fielder from 2010 through 2012 and he continued to play there from 2013 through 2015. Overall, he played 453 games in right field in the 2010s for this career Dodger. Ethier was a two-time All-Star (2010 and 2011) and won a Gold Glove as a right fielder in 2011.
  • Cody Bellinger started 2019 in right field and he won his first Most Valuable Player Award, named to the All-Star team and also was a Silver Slugger and Gold Glove winner. He’s played 125 games in right field in his first three seasons.
  • Matt Kemp just qualified with 110 games in right field.

Only two other Dodgers played at least 63 games in right field in the 2010s. Scott Van Slyke played 71 games in right field and Kiké Hernández continued his versatility with 63 games played in right field in his career with the Dodgers.
