We have completed the outfield for the Dodger of the Decade team with Yasiel Puig winning the right field position. There is one more poll to finish before we move on to the pitchers for the Dodgers of the Decade team.
Certainly, since Andrew Friedman took over Dodger baseball operations, versatility has been an important consideration when acquiring and developing players.
To honor that, we have seven players that have qualified for the multi-position player for the 2010s Dodgers.
The qualifications to make this ballot is slightly different than those for the other polls. For a player to qualify, he must play 75 games at two or more infield positions or play 75 games at least one infield position and one outfield position. For this purposes of this poll, I made the decision to not list players who only played multiple outfield positions. While those players have value, they are not who immediately come to mind as a multi-position player.
I have listed the seven players below in order of total games played for the Dodgers:
- Kiké Hernández has played 600 games from 2015 to the present for the Dodgers. The breakdown includes 166 games at second base, 158 games in center field, 114 games in left field, and 75 games at shortstop. Hernández has also played 63 games in right field and 30 games at third base.
- Chris Taylor was acquired during the 2016 season had he has played 453 games for the Dodgers through 2019. Taylor has played 139 games at shortstop, 128 games in left field and 119 games in center field. Taylor has also played 61 games at second base for the Dodgers.
- Cody Bellinger has played 450 games for the Dodgers since 2017. Bellinger has played 239 games at first base, 125 games in right field and 107 games in center field.
- Dee Gordon is one of the two players on this list that qualified playing just both middle infield positions. Gordon played 329 games for the Dodgers from 2011 through 2014. He played 160 games at shortstop and 147 games at second base before he was traded to Miami.
- Jamey Carroll is the second player on this list who also qualified playing second and shortstop for the Dodgers. Carroll played 279 games for the Dodgers from 2010 through 2011. He played 135 games at shortstop and 129 games at second base.
- Max Muncy came up to the Dodgers in 2018 and he has become an integral part of the team in less than two seasons. He has played 278 games for the team, playing 149 games at first base and 83 games at second base. Muncy has also played 73 games at third base for the Dodgers.
- Howie Kendrick played 263 games for the Dodgers from 2015 through 2016. Kendrick played 145 games at second base and 94 games in left field.
The statistics that are in the table below are their totals for the Dodgers from 2010-2019:
