Matt Kemp, Joc Pederson, Chris Taylor and Kiké Hernández are among the Dodgers who will battle for this spot

MLB: Arizona Diamondbacks at Los Angeles Dodgers Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

We are moving to the outfield for our Dodger of Decade team this week. And as we get closer to the end of the year, we will start having two articles a week for the next three weeks.

Before we start today’s article, let’s complete the infield with our first home grown position player to join the 2010s squad. Corey Seager won with 84% of the votes.

As in the prior articles, the qualifications to make this ballot is a minimum 100 games played at left field and there is a poll at the bottom of the article where True Blue LA readers will get to vote for their choice.

There were seven players appeared in at least 100 games from 2010-2019 at left field and here they are in order of games played there:

  • Carl Crawford led the 2010s Dodgers with 273 games played in left field. Crawford was acquired in 2012 in the Nick Punto trade. He led the Dodgers in games played in left field in 2013 and 2014. He is only player on this list that did not play any other outfield position for the Dodgers.
  • Joc Pederson, who began his career in 2014, has played 206 games in left field with most of those games in the last two seasons. Pederson began his career primarily playing center field, he has played 412 games there in his career. He also has played 46 games in right field.
  • Tony Gwynn, Jr. played 200 games in left field for the Dodgers in his two seasons. Gwynn played for the Dodgers in 2011 and 2012. He also played 65 games in center and five games in right field.
  • Scott Van Slyke came up in 2012 and played for the Dodgers until he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds on July 31, 2017. He played 158 games in left field in those seasons. Van Slyke also played 71 games in right field and 26 games in center field.
  • Chris Taylor makes his first of two appearances in the outfield ballots, he has played 128 games in left field. Taylor also has played 119 games in center field.
  • Matt Kemp, who will be on all three outfield ballots, played 119 games in left field in 2014 and 2018. Kemp returned to the All-Star Game while playing left field that season. Kemp also played 110 games in right field but he was mainly a centerfielder in the early part of the decade as he played 533 games in center field from 2010 to 2014.
  • Kiké Hernández will also be on the left and centerfield ballots. He has played 114 games in left field since 2015. Hernández has also played 158 games in center field.

Four other Dodgers played at least 62 games in left field in the 2010s. Howie Kendrick played 94 games in left field in 2016 for the Dodgers. Andre Ethier, who will be on the ballot in both center and right field, played 87 games in left field in the 2010s. Juan Rivera played for the Dodgers in 2011 and 2012. Rivera played 69 games in left field in those two seasons. The fourth Dodger is Reed Johnson who played for the team in 2010. He played 62 games in left field that season.

The statistics that are in the table below are their totals for the Dodgers from 2010-2019. and contain games where they played other positions.
