Another postponement for OKC and Rancho Cucamonga has yet to win at home but wins for Tulsa and Great Lakes.
Player of the day
Zach McKinstry had a double and home run in the Drillers win on Friday. McKinstry played at Great Lakes, Rancho Cucamonga and Tulsa in 2018. He was a member of Tulsa’s playoff winning team though he went hitless in 11 plate appearances in the postseason.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
The Dodgers and Cubs had their scheduled game postponed due to inclement weather. A doubleheader has been scheduled for today, both will be seven-inning games.
Double-A Tulsa
The Drillers fell behind 2-0 in the first inning agains the Travelers (Mariners) and stayed that way until the sixth inning. After tying the game in the sixth, the Drillers put six runs on the board in the seventh and went on to win 8-2.
Tulsa had 13 hits in their attack on Friday. Gavin Lux and Cristian Santana each had three hits, Zach McKinstry and Logan Landon also had two hits apiece
In that six run seventh inning, McKinstry hit a three-run homer, Cody Thomas had a sacrifice fly and Landon and Lux each hit run-scoring singles.
Michael Boyle pitched 2⅔ scoreless innings in relief and he got the win. He also struck out six Travelers.
Single-A Rancho Cucamonga
The Quakes lost 8-4 for their second straight loss to the JetHawks (Rockies). Gerardo Carrillo started and gave up three runs and three hits in 1⅔ innings pitched.
After making it 4-2, the Quakes gave up three unearned runs in the fifth inning and were unable to make up that deficit.
One thing both teams did was strike out. The Quakes struck out 16 times when they were batting but their pitchers were able to strike out 17 JetHawks when they were on the mound.
Connor Wong hit his third home run of the season.
Class-A Great Lakes
The Loons held on to beat the Whitecaps (Tigers) 4-3 behind two solid pitching performances. Guillermo Zuniga made the start and went 4⅔ innings. Zuniga gave up two runs (one earned), five hits, a walk and struck out three.
Jose Chacin pitched the final 4⅓ innings and got the win for the Loons. Chacin gave up an unearned run, four hits and had five strikeouts.
Great Lakes had two home runs in the game. Jacob Amaya hit a two-run homer and Luke Heyer hit a solo shot. Also Nico Hulsizer also hit a run-scoring double for the Loons.
