Oklahoma City was the only Dodgers minor league affiliate to come out victorious on Thursday.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
A four-run eighth inning pushed the Dodgers ahead of the Sounds (Rangers) by a score of 7-3.
Paulo Orlando’s home run in the seventh inning helped the Dodgers get even at three runs a piece. This gave the Dodgers the momentum for the big scoring that was to come. Daniel Castro climbed aboard after being hit by a pitch, which was immediately followed by a base hit, courtesy of Matt Beaty. A double would drive in Castro and Beaty to reach home. The final pair of the inning came from the long ball. This time, by Will Smith, who has now hit four this season.
Tony Cingrani was credited for the win in this game because of the scoreless eighth he threw ahead of the four-run inning.
The Arkansas Travelers (Mariners) held the Dodgers to just one run in the 4-1 loss on Thursday. This loss broke the three-game winning streak the Drillers had going. Right-handed pitcher Justin De Fratus was responsible for allowing all of the Travelers’ runs to score.
Tulsa fell behind early, going down 2-0 in the first inning. They wouldn’t see a run score until the seventh inning, but this wasn’t enough for them to get ahead. The team had plenty of opportunities, but didn’t take advantage of them, going 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position on the night.
Class-A Rancho Cucamonga
The Quakes fell to the Inland Empire in extra inning action on Thursday.
There was no score after nine innings of play in Rancho Cucamonga, forcing the teams into the 10th. Per minor league rules, a runner is placed on second base during extras, giving each team a competitive advantage to score quicker. Shortstop Jeter Downs committed an error to allow the placed runner to score.
The Quakes weren’t able to follow with a run of their own, going down in order in the bottom half of the 10th. Overall, it wasn’t a productive game for the Quakes, going 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position and leaving nine runners stranded on base.
Class-A Great Lakes
The final three games of the series against the Kane County Cougars was cancelled. They will pick up action on Monday at home against the Dayton Dragons.
