Rich Hill strikes out ten in six innings in Friday’s win

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at Cincinnati Reds David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

In the four days prior to last Friday’s game against the Reds, the Dodgers had as many off days and games played. There is a saying in baseball, “momentum is next day’s starting pitcher.”

Rich Hill took the mound on Friday and he was completely in charge of the situation. He pitched six innings and gave up no runs and two hits. He also struck out ten.

Aside from the fourth inning, the Reds did not put anyone on base against Hill. In fact, in five of the six innings he pitched, Hill retired the side in order.

This was the fourth time Hill has struck out ten and had no walks in a start. He had lost the two other times he did that as a Dodger.

And there there is this fun fact.

In 2017, he lost his attempt at a perfect game against the Pittsburgh Pirates and then in 2018, he lost a game against the Rockies were he pitched 6⅔ innings and gave up one run and six hits.

Rich Hill’s next start will be the finale of the Dodgers two-game series against the Rays. Hill will pitch on Wednesday, his opposing pitcher has not been named yet.
