All four Dodger affiliates won on Tuesday, Great Lakes extended their winning streak to six games.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
The Dodgers began a 14-game road trip with their game against the Baby Cakes (Marlins) that went down to the last two outs. The Baby Cakes had the bases-loaded needing one run to tie. But they hit into a double play to end the game and gave the Dodgers their 6-5 win.
Will Smith homered twice in the win. He went 3-for-4 and raised his batting line to .281/.400/.555. He’s been hot in May hitting .290/.395/.594 with five home runs.
Daniel Corcino made the start and pitched five innings for the win. Corcino gave up three hits, one run and two walks. He also struck out three. JT Chargois picked up his second save.
The Drillers won 3-2 over the Cardinals when they scored two runs in the top of the ninth.
The rally consisted of walks to Josh Thole and Zach McKinstry and after a strikeout, Walker doubled to score both runs. Shea Spitzbarth pitched a scoreless ninth to get the save.
Gary Kasowski got the win for his one scoreless inning of work. Dustin May started for the Drillers and he pitched 5⅔ innings and struck out seven. He gave up two runs and five hits.
Gavin Lux homered for the Drillers other run.
Class-A Rancho Cucamonga
In a matchup of the first place teams in the California League, the Quakes defeated the Rawhide (Diamondbacks) 5-1 on Tuesday night at LoanMart Field.
Devin Mann and Drew Avans each homered, Nick Yarnall tripled two late runs to give the Quakes a four-run lead.
Michael Grove started and pitched 2⅔ scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Melvin Jiminez made his California League debut and pitched 1⅓ innings with a walk and three strikeouts.
Class-A Great Lakes
The Loons outslugged the Lugnuts (Blue Jays) 11-8 in an afternoon game on Tuesday. The win made it six-straight for the Loons. It also meant the Loons have won 19 out of there last 22 games.
Niko Hulsizer hit two of the four home runs clouted by the Loons. Hulsizer now has 10 home runs and 34 RBI. Jacob Amaya and Romer Cuadrado also homered.
The did all that scoring despite going 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
Drew Finley got his second win for pitching 1⅓ scoreless innings.
