The Los Angeles Dodgers placed relief pitcher Joe Kelly, 30, on the bereavement list on Friday afternoon. A player on the bereavement list must miss at least three games, but cannot miss more than seven. This means Joe Kelly cannot pitch in the entire series against the Pirates and must return next Friday against the Phillies at home. No details have been released about the reason for his leave.

To fill the roster spot, the Dodgers recalled outfielder Kyle Garlick. The 27-year-old out of Cal Poly Pomona made his major league debut in a pinch-hit at-bat on May 19 against the Cincinnati Reds. With Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, Garlick is batting .280 with 10 home runs and 20 RBIs.
