Player of the series: Cody Bellinger

To no surprise

MLB: New York Mets at Los Angeles Dodgers Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The Dodgers took three out of four games from the Mets this past week. Aside from the bullpen, LA got contributions across the board. Their offense came up huge at times, their starting pitching was great and they played fantastic defense.

As the title states, this is a player of the series award, but Cody Bellinger needed just one game to be the best player of the series.

His performance on Monday was truly something special. He did it on both sides of the ball. First, and most memorably, with his defense.

Not only did he get an incredible outfield assist on the play, it would be the second best play he’d make from right field for the game.

With a three-run lead and the bases loaded, Bellinger made one of the best defensive plays we’ll see all season.

Not only did he gun the runner out at third base, he did so before the runner could score, getting the double play and helping the Dodgers escape the inning with a three-run lead.

He also did it on the offensive side as well, hitting this home run to give the Dodgers the lead.

For the series, he was 4-for-15, with two home runs and four runs driven in. He also walked four times as well.
