It’s Dave Roberts’ day off, though Buehler’s day off has a better ring to it. The Dodgers manager is taking the day to celebrate with his loved ones. It’s quite a special day for the Roberts family, as Alanna Rizzo reports.

Taking the skipper’s place on his 47th birthday will be bench coach Bob Geren. Geren is in his fourth season as bench coach for the Dodgers. It’s not the first time he will manage the team. Geren took over for Roberts on multiple occasions, mostly in Spring Training.

Geren will only act as the manager role for Friday’s contest with the Philadelphia Phillies, as Roberts will return on Saturday.
