Will Smith continues to impress down in Oklahoma City, showing the major league Dodgers he is a very qualified candidate if he is needed.

The Quakes and Loons are on their All-Star Break while the Arizona League started action on Monday.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

The Dodgers overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat the El Paso Chihuahuas, 3-2.

Mitchell White allowed both runs the Chihuahuas scored in the second inning. Other than this blemish, White was otherwise spotless, allowing a total of five hits and no walks. He struck out six batters as well.

The Chihuahuas held on to this lead until the seventh inning. Third baseman Connor Joe drove in a pair of runs with a two-out double to tie things up. The Dodgers sealed the deal in the eighth when Will Smith hit a solo home run to give them a 3-2 lead. Smith has now hit a home run in five-straight games.

The Dodgers bullpen was solid, tossing four scoreless innings and combining for just three hits and no walks. Josh Sborz got the win for his two inning contribution.

Double-A Tulsa

The Drillers were down by three runs in the middle of the second inning, and the Dodgers slowly chipped away at the lead to eventually beat the RoughRiders, 5-3.

Tulsa’s comeback featured a home run by Keibert Ruiz and Cody Thomas, as well as a two-out RBI by DJ Peters. The Drillers added to their lead in the eighth inning, when Carlos Rincon and Gavin Lux each hit snatched RBI singles.

Dustin May went for a long outing, going seven innings on Monday. He was credited for all three of Frisco’s runs, from seven hits and no walks. He struck out five batters in his appearance.

The Ogden Raptors were unable to complete the Opening Series sweep, as they went scoreless in the 9-0 win to the Grand Junction Rockies.

The Rockies were able to score seven runs in the fifth inning, highlighting their first victory of the season. On the other side, the Raptors were unable to capitalize on their six hits of the night, going 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and stranding a total of seven runners.

Rookie Arizona League

The Arizona League began on Monday and the Dodgers now have two teams in the league.

The AZL Dodgers One defeated the AZL Brewers, 12-6. Kody Hoese, the Dodgers 2019 first round draft pick, went 3-for-3 in the game. All three of his hits were doubles and he also drove in a run. Outfielder Luis Carlos Diaz also impressed, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs.

AZL Dodgers Two fell to the AZL Indians by a score of 4-1. Edwin Mateo went 3-for-4 in the win and Yunior Garcia hit a sacrifice fly to get the only Dodgers run on the board.
