The Quakes and Loons were off, but some of the top prospects in LA’s farm system impressed on Tuesday, including their 2019 No. 1 pick from Tulane, Kody Hoese.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
Offensively, it was a great day at the plate for the Dodgers. They scored nine runs, and had 12 hits. On the pitching side of things, it was an entirely different story. Six separate pitchers allowed a total of 19 runs, as OKC fell to the Chihuahuas, 19-9.
Dennis Santana got the start, and was roughed up for eight runs in only 4 1⁄3 innings. Things weren’t any easier for Zac Rosscup, the former Dodgers who was recently signed to a minor-league contract. He allowed four runs, and didn’t even record an out. In the fifth and sixth innings, the Chihuahuas scored a total of 12 runs.
Edwin Rios provided most of the offense for OKC, as he went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs, including hitting his 11th homer of the season. He also scored three runs.
Double-A Tulsa
The Drillers defeated the RoughRiders 8-2 thanks to a four-run fourth inning. They played small ball in the inning, as four singles and a walk helped bring in four. This included a string of four consecutive hitters reaching base with two outs.
Five separate Drillers had a multi-hit game.
Single-A Rancho Cucamonga
The Quakes don’t play until Thursday.
High-A Great Lakes
The Lakes don’t play until Thursday.
Advanced Rookie Ogden
The Raptors jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after three innings. It was more than enough, as they defeated the Orem Owlz 6-1.
Justin Yurchak got things started for the Raptors in the first, as his solo home run put his team up ahead 1-0. They’d add another run an inning later thanks to four separate walks. Back-to-back singles and back-to-back walks brought in the third run of the game for Ogden. Jeremy Arocho would single in two more, making it 5-0.
Antonio Hernandez was great in his three innings as the starter. He struck out six and allowed one run. Four different relievers would combine to allow only one hit over the final six frames.
Rookie Arizona League
The AZL Dodgers 1 defeated the AZL Rangers 12-3. First rounder Kody Hoese went 2-for-2, including his first homer of the Arizona League. He is now 5-for-5 on the season. Imanol Vargas added three hits.
The AZL Dodgers 2 defeated the AZL White Sox 7-3. Edwin Mateo and Aldrich De Jongh each had three hits, with Aldo Espinoza hitting a home run.
