After the pitching rotation has been unclear for several days, Dave Roberts provided some clarity. He announced Ross Stripling and Tony Gonsolin as the starting pitchers for the final two games in Arizona.
This plan wasn’t exactly what was expected, but it’s not too far-fetched. The game two starter was a toss-up between Julio Urías and Ross Stripling. In the end, Stripling will start and Urías will piggyback behind him.
Gonsolin gets the nod in the series finale, facing Taylor Clarke, who also made his major league debut this season. You can read more about the pitching matchup in the series preview.
Dave Roberts also told the media Justin Turner will get a day off on Wednesday. A third baseman replacement hasn’t been decided, but Russell Martin is an option. In fact, it seems like he’s getting his reps.
