Dustin May, Gavin Lux to play in 2019 Futures Game

The game will take place on July 7 at 4 p.m. PDT

Right-handed pitcher Dustin May and infielder Gavin Lux will represent the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2019 Futures Game, it was announced on Friday. Lux and May are the second and third top Dodgers prospects, respectively.

Dustin May has a 3.74 ERA in 15 starts with the Double-A Tulsa Drillers and will make his first start with the OKC Dodgers on Sunday — one week before he will join the Futures Team in Cleveland.

Gavin Lux, also recently promoted to Triple-A, is batting .318 this season. He impressed in his Oklahoma City debut, going 3-for-5 on Thursday.

Keibert Ruíz, the No. 1 Dodgers prospect, won’t be representing LA this year. Arizona, Chicago and San Francisco are sending their prospect catchers to play on July 7th, leaving Ruíz out of the roster.

There is one big change to the Futures Game this year, as the two teams competing will now be the American League and National League instead of the U.S. and World squads. Additionally, the exhibition game will last for seven innings, shortened from a full-length game.

The game will take place on Sunday, July 7 at 4 p.m. PDT. The game will be available to view on MLB Network and MLB.com.
