Triple-A Oklahoma City
The Sacramento River Cats (Giants) defeated the Dodgers on Thursday, delivering them their second loss in a row. The three game set they just wrapped up will be the only time the two face off this season, so the River Cats took the season series, 2-1.
Sacramento got out to a lead in the first inning and wouldn’t give it up for the entirety of the game. OKC pitcher Mitchell White earned six of the seven runs the River Cats scored, which earned him the loss in the game to drop his record to 1-4 on the season. His ERA, 7.43, is also unpleasantly high.
The Dodgers had a rally going at the end of the game, scoring three in the ninth, but it wouldn’t be enough to complete the comeback.
Catcher Rocky Gale had a good day, going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs in the loss.
Double-A Tulsa
Tulsa’s game against the Arkansas Drillers was rained out on Thursday. The game will be made up on Friday, June 7 in a doubleheader.
Class-A Rancho Cucamonga
The Quakes dropped the series finale against the Lancaster JetHawks, dropping the three-game series as well.
The JetHawks got to as much as a nine-run lead before the Quakes ended the shutout with a Devin Mann home run in the eighth inning. Mann was the only Quake with an RBI on Thursday, driving in all three runs they scored. An RBI single in the ninth added to his two-run homer from the eighth.
Right-handed starting pitcher Gerardo Carrillo struggled in this outing, allowing six runs to score (five earned) in just 2 2⁄3 innings. The 20-year-old now has a 6.55 ERA from 11 games (10 starts) this season.
Class-A Great Lakes
The Loons weren’t able to come up with a win on Thursday as they fell to the Lansing Lugnuts, 7-1. All-Star pitcher Jose Chacin tossed five innings for Great Lakes, allowing three runs to score from seven hits and a walk. His outing featured five strikeouts and he lowered his ERA to 4.97.
The offense was nowhere to be found. The team combined for five hits on the night and went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position, leaving eight runners on base.
