The Dodgers’ losing streak didn’t last long. With Saturday afternoon’s 7-2 win over the San Francisco Giants, the streak ended at just two games.

Saturday’s contest started out slow, but the Dodgers came back to life in the eighth inning, scoring a total of seven runs. Giants reliever Derek Rodríguez gifted the Dodgers two runs when he allowed back-to-back walks with the bases loaded. After Joc Pederson was called out at home, Cody Bellinger was intentionally walked for the third time to bring up Seager. He came up with a two RBI double for his fourth hit of the game.

Also with a multi-hit game on Saturday was Justin Turner, who went 3-for-3 with a walk.

Both teams struggled to find much success against the starting pitchers, with Rich Hill and Jeff Samardzija each having a good outing.

Hill, the starter for Los Angeles, tossed five innings in his eighth appearance of the season. In what is considered a shorter start for a Dodger pitcher, he allowed two runs to score from seven hits and three walks.

In a similar outing, Samardijza struck out five batters while allowing seven hits and two walks to let in three earned runs. Corey Seager was the only Dodger to get an RBI off of him on Saturday, with a single and a double in his first to hits of the night.

LA relievers pitched four innings in the game, and (for a delightful change) didn’t allow a run. Julio Urías piggybacked off Rich Hill for two innings, allowing only three batters to reach base. Joe Kelly and Yimi García also each tossed a scoreless inning.

Overall, both teams left a lot of runners on base. The Dodgers left 13 behind while the Giants left a total of 11 runners stranded.
