The Dodgers used June as the month to experiment with their players. The depth in the roster allows them to place different players at different positions and hope for success. Joc Pederson’s trial at first base and Russell Martin on the mound are just a couple instances where players tried out new positions.
Corey Seager and Rich Hill found themselves on the injured list in June. Fortunately for the Dodgers, their aforementioned depth helped Seager and Hill’s absence feel like less of a loss.
The team was able to widen the gap in the division, extending their lead to 12 games over the second place Colorado Rockies.
Batter of June
Max Muncy impressed in June, hitting .287/.404/.585, leading the team with 18 runs scored, 23 RBIs and eight home runs. His month featured two multi-home runs games, one against the Angeles and the second at Coors Field against the Rockies.
Honorable mention goes to Chris Taylor who really stepped up to the plate when Corey Seager hit the injured list. He hit .312/.371/.570 and was second on the team with 20 RBIs. His 12 doubles also led the team in the stat.
Pitcher of June
Walker Buehler had himself a great June. Of the four starting pitchers who were healthy last month, he boasted the lowest ERA (2.45). A complete game with 16 strikeouts highlighted his impressive month. He also pitched back-to-back games in which he went seven scoreless innings.
