Dodgers to play four against the Phillies

Dodgers travel to their first NL East ballpark

The Dodgers will look to continue their success against the Phillies that they had when they swept a three-game series at Dodger Stadium. However, the Dodgers have lost their last two series at Philadelphia.

While the Dodgers are comfortably in front in the NL West, the Phillies needed their walk-off win on Sunday to stay in the second NL Wild Card spot.

The Dodgers will face four right-handed starting pitchers as they begin a week where the only time they see a left-handed pitcher is out of the bullpen.

Game one: Clayton Kershaw (7-2, 3.09) vs. Zach Eflin (7-8, 3.78)

Monday, July 15 - 4:05 p.m. PDT

Clayton Kershaw has an under-.500 record against just one NL team, the Phillies. He is 3-5 in 14 career starts and Kershaw is 2-3 in seven starts at Citizens Bank Park.

Kershaw pitched well in his last start before the All-Star break, he pitched seven innings and gave up two runs (one earned) and struck out nine.

Zach Eflin has not pitched well against the Dodgers, in four career starts, Eflin is 0-2 with a 9.18 ERA. Max Muncy has two home runs in five plate appearances against Eflin. Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager and Chris Taylor have also homered against Eflin.

Game two: Walker Buehler (8-1, 3.46) vs. Vince Velasquez (2-5, 4.63)

Tuesday, July 16 - 4:05 p.m. PDT

A pair of hard-throwing right-handers matchup on Tuesday when Walker Buehler goes against Vince Velasquez.

Buehler is 0-1 in his one start against the Phillies, that took place in 2018 when he pitched 4⅔ innings and gave up five runs at Philadelphia.

Velasquez is 0-2 in three starts against the Dodgers. David Freese has two home runs against Velasquez and Turner also has hit a homer.

Game three: Kenta Maeda (7-6, 3.82) vs. Nick Pivetta (4-4, 5.81)

Wednesday, July 17 - 4:05 p.m. PDT

Kenta Maeda is 4-1 in seven career starts against the Phillies with a 4.29 ERA. ‘

In 2019, Maeda has pitched much better at home than on the road.

At Dodger Stadium, Maeda has a 2.26 ERA in 51⅔ innings while on the road, his ERA is over three runs higher at 5.44 in 49⅔ innings.

Nick Pivetta has a 2.12 ERA in 17 innings with a 1-1 record against the Dodgers. Pivetta has struck out 22 Dodgers against three walks in three starts against the Dodgers.

Game four: Ross Stripling (4-3, 3.65) vs. Aaron Nola (8-2, 3.63)

Thursday, July 18 - 9:35 a.m. PDT

Ross Stripling will try to carry his good start at Boston to this start at Philadelphia.

Stripling is 1-0 in three starts against the Phillies with a 4.32 ERA in 16⅔ innings pitched.

Aaron Nola has been a consistent presence for the Phillies this season, he has made 20 starts and he has struck out 133 batters in 116⅔ innings.

Against the Dodgers, he is 2-0 in three starts with a 2.84 ERA. He has 20 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched.
