It took two days to complete, but the Dodgers picked up the 7-2 win over the Phillies. After a two hour and 37 minute rain delay, the two teams played past 1 a.m. in a matchup that lasted over six hours.
Prior to the nearly three hour delay, the Dodgers jumped on top. LA worked three straight walks against Nick Pivetta to load the bases in the first. A.J. Pollock flied out, bringing in a run to give his team the lead.
It was in the top of the third when the game went into the rain delay. They resumed play right around 10:35 p.m. ET. With the delay being so long, Kenta Maeda’s day was done. He threw two scoreless innings, striking out three and walking two. Since Maeda exited early, the game would be turned over to the bullpen.
The newest Dodger, Casey Sadler, got the ball first. He collected two outs before turning the ball over to Julio Urias. In 2 2⁄3 innings he allowed a run, though it was unearned, while striking out three. As a reliever this season, Urias has an ERA of 1.62.
He did it with the bat as well, as he had an RBI single in the sixth inning.
Both teams were tied entering the seventh. Max Muncy led off the inning with a single, and was followed with a two-rum homer off the bat of David Freese.
