As we close in on the only trade deadline it is fun to play GM a bit for the Dodgers. I'm fairly certain that a left-handed reliever will be added, likely at the cost of some minor league talent. I hope that Friedman takes a shot at someone like Will Smith, rather than shopping for a bargain, as he has done in the past. Plus it would be cool to deal with Zaidi.
The trade I'd like to throw out for discussion centers on Joc Pederson for Whit Merrifield. I know that KC would require more in the deal. How much more is the question. How many top-tier prospects? Gonsolin or May + Lux? Who do you think is on the current "untouchable" list? Merrifield's super team-friendly 4 year contract really adds to his value.
I would overpay for Merrifield, as he seems like a game-changer for the Dodgers. That deal would put Muncy at 1B, with Pollock or Taylor in the OF with Verdugo and Bellinger. That's a line-up that can succeed in the post season. As great as Joc hits against righties, he is too much of a liability in playoff series.
