Quakes homer thrice in win over Ports

Quakes get solo home runs from Downs, Amaya and Paulson in 6-4 victory

Oklahoma City, Rancho Cucamonga and Great Lakes win, Tulsa splits a pair while Ogden sweeps their doubleheader on Friday.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

The Dodgers led by eight runs after the third inning and went on to beat the Rainiers (Mariners) 9-2 on Friday. Logan Bawcom pitched five innings and gave up a run and three hits.

Bawcom collected his first win for his six-strikeout effort.

Zach McKinstry was promoted from Tulsa on August 3rd and had a career night with a 4-for-4 game. He hit two home runs and had six RBI. McKinstry had hit 14 home runs in 463 at bats while playing at Tulsa over the last two seasons. In one week at OKC, he has now hit three in 20 at-bats.

Gavin Lux scored twice and had one hit and a walk in five plate appearances. Austin Barnes went 1-for-3 with two walks. Jedd Gyorko walked twice as his rehab continues.

Double-A Tulsa

The Drillers split two games against the Naturals (Royals), winning the conclusion of a suspended game and then dropping their regularly scheduled game.

In the first game, three Driller pitchers combined to give up just one unearned run. Parker Curry started and pitched four scoreless innings before the game was suspended on Thursday.

Ryan Moseley and Nolan Long were credited with the win and save respectively.

Friday’s regularly scheduled game had Josiah Gray making the start. Gray pitched three innings and he allowed two runs and five hits. He struck out one and also had one walk.

Jordan Sheffield gave up the winning run as he walked two and the second hit he allowed scored the walk-off win.

Class-A Rancho Cucamonga

The Quakes got solo home runs from Jeter Downs, Jacob Amaya and Dillon Paulson as they beat the Ports (Athletics) 6-4 at Stockton. For Amaya, his home run was his first hit for the Quakes.

Andre Jackson pitched three innings in his start. He struck out seven and walked three.

Austin Drury pitched three scoreless innings to get the win. Brett de Geus finished the game and was credited with his third save.

Three Quakes, Jordan Procyshen, Paulson and Deacon Liput each had two hits.

Class-A Great Lakes

The Loons started the ninth inning with a four-run lead and then held on to beat the Captains (Indians) 6-5 on Friday. Clark Scolamiero hit a three-run homer to cut the deficit to one-run but then Joel Inoa was able to get the last two outs to hold on for the win.

Romer Cuadrado had three hits including a two-run homer. James Outman and Sam McWilliams each had two hits.

Ryan Pepiot pitched two scoreless innings in his start.

Advanced Rookie Ogden

The Raptors swept up two wins over the Chukars (Royals) at home on Friday. In the first game, the Raptors scored four runs in the first inning and then went on to win 4-2.

Ryan Ward hit a two-run homer, Brandon Lewis also had a hit and one RBI.

Yeison Cespedes, who got the win, pitched three scoreless innings and struck out five.

In the second game, trailing by three, the Raptors would score the last eight runs and won 8-3. Andy Pages and Sauryn Lao each homered for the Raptors.

The Raptors had 13 hits, Pages, Brandon Lewis and Andrew Shaps each had two hits. Zac Ching went 3-for-3.
