Podcast episode 1922: Closing in

Kenley’s tinkering, Ryu’s magical run, and a look to September rosters

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at Los Angeles Dodgers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

We have a grab bag of sorts this week on the podcast, talking about the adjustments Kenley Jansen is trying to make, an appreciation of Hyun-jin Ryu’s incredible run, taking stock of the injured Dodgers status, plus the possibility of Gavin Lux adding to the growing list of LA rookie contributors in 2019.

It’s also that time of year for actual magic number talk, plus you get the usual Cody Bellinger pace update and as always a food question from Craig. This week: carnival food!

Dodgers rewind

With the talk of Kenley Jansen’s relative struggles in the last two seasons, this week we look back to Tom Niedenfuer, another successful Dodgers relief pitcher though perhaps the one most defined by his postseason failures. We look at the parallels between Niedenfuer and Jansen, and to Jonathan Broxton as well.
