Walk-off night on the Dodgers farm

Dodgers minor league report: Thursday, Aug. 8

Marcus Chiu strikes out, but a walk-off ensued.
Rancho Cucamonga Quakes

Two of three minor league teams walked off on Thursday night. They must be having whatever the major league Dodgers are having.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

Kyle Garlick hit a tie-breaking home run in the sixth inning to lead the Dodgers to a 7-3 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers. Garlick, who is slashing .330/.400/.709 in Triple-A this season, hit his 20th home run of the season. He went 3-for-5 and scored two runs on Thursday.

More impressively, Gavin Lux reached base for the 45th game in a row. He went 2-for-5 with a run scored. He now has a humble OPS of 1.380.

Starting pitcher Rob Zastryzny pitched five innings and allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks. The bullpen was lights out, combining for four scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and dealing four strikeouts.

Double-A Tulsa

The Drillers were up 3-0 over the Naturals when the game was suspended due to heavy rain in the 5th inning. The game will continue on Friday at 2:30 ahead of their regularly scheduled game.

Class-A Rancho Cucamonga

The Quakes managed a comeback win against the Lancaster JetHawks in a 5-4 victory.

With the Quakes down by three runs in the eighth inning, Hunter Feduccia smacked a two-RBI base hit to bring the game within one run. They scored two more in the ninth inning to shut the door. The JetHawks defense just crumbled at the end, allowing both nine inning runs to score on throwing errors.

Jacob Amaya, the Dodgers No. 14 prospect (according to MLB.com), made his Rancho Cucamonga debut, but went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Class-A Great Lakes

The Loons were down by a run coming into the ninth inning, but thanks to Luke Heyer, they defeated the Lake County Captains, 5-4.

James Outman drew a one-out walk and advanced via a balk. Leonel Valera hit a base hit to bring in the tying run and Heyer sealed the deal, bringing Valera home to score with a walk-off double. Not only did Heyer drive in the winning run, but he was on point all night. He started the Loons’ scoring in the first inning with a sacrifice fly and later hit a two-run home run, totaling four RBIs on the night.

Mark Washington earned the win for his two relief innings. He didn’t allow the Captains to score and held them to one hit and one walk.

Advanced Rookie Odgen

The Raptors-Chukars game was postponed due to unplayable field conditions. They will play a doubleheader on Friday.
