The Drillers were one of two in-season teams to play on Tuesday. They lost in the Texas League Championship series opener, 13-6.

Double-A Tulsa

Although the Drillers were indeed productive on offense, Amarillo came through at the end of the game to best them, 13-6.

A quartet of Drillers hit homers on Tuesday to contribute to their six runs, including Cody Thomas, Omar Estevez, Donovan Casey and Connor Wong. Wong’s 3-run homer brought in the most runs for Tulsa, while the other three players all hit solo dingers.

Josiah “JoJo” Gray started on the mound for Tulsa and it was one of the rougher outings — if not the roughest — of his season. He allowed five runs (four earned) to score from nine hits and two walks through six innings of work. It’s the most runs the righty has allowed in any start this year.

By the middle of the eighth inning, the game was tied at six a piece, and it ended up being a blowout. The Sod Poodles exploded for a 7-run eighth inning and the Drillers couldn’t come back.

Relief pitcher Ryan Moseley was dinged for allowing a few of these runs and was credited with the loss. He tossed 23 of an inning, allowing seven runs (two earned) off of four hits and two walks.

The Drillers will attempt to even the series up tomorrow evening against Amarillo.

Advanced Rookie Ogden

The Raptors still do not know when they will compete in their championship series, as their opponent has not yet been determined. The winner from the the Idaho Falls Chuckars and the Billings Mustangs series will be Odgen’s opponent, but their Tuesday game was suspended.
