Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send 30 polls to plugged in fans from each team. Dodgers fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.

We’re approaching the very steep, scary drop of this FanPulse rollercoaster. Note: this FanPulse post was sent out before the Dodgers clinched the division.

The team’s fan confidence reached an all-time low for the third straight week, dipping to 56%.

Now, I don’t have a great explanation as to why only about half of the respondents are pleased with their performance. Sorry, it’s the truth. What I can say, however, is perhaps fans were just becoming impatient, waiting for the Bums to clinch.

I thought it would be a good idea to compare these numbers with the other teams around the league. Here is a graph showing fan confidence from teams around the National League West. If you can’t see the embed below, here is a link to the original graph.

As you can see, Diamondbacks, Giants and Padres fans all have higher confidence rates in their teams, which either means they are mega optimists, or they are reading the question wrong. They are all technically still in contention for the NL Wild Card, but more realistically, the D-Backs are the only team who can probably make it.

Comparing the Dodgers fan confidence to that of the Yankees and Astros also doesn’t look so hot. The Yankees, who have the best record in the major leagues, have 99% fan confidence and the Astros, who have the same record as the Dodgers, have 100% fan confidence. Can’t relate.

We’ll see how the results land next week. I’m no expert at trend prediction, but I’d like to think Dodgers fans will be at least a little more confident in the team after clinching.

As for the national question this week, we asked which team will win the NL Central. About three-quarters of respondents say they think the Cardinals will take their division. They are currently 4.5 games above the Cubs and have a magic number of 12.
