The Dodgers delivered the Mets a huge L in a game that basically sealed their postseason fate. Check out the Amazin’ Avenue game recap to find out the other side of this story.
Tony Gonsolin and Matt Beaty joined MLB Network for some appearances this weekend. Here’s a short clip of Mark DeRosa fangirling over Gonsolin’s college batting stats.

Around the league ...
Another MVP-level player is out for the remainder of the season. Mike Trout will have surgery on his foot this week. You can read more about the details at ESPN.

As mentioned in yesterday’s links post, Charlie Culberson was hit in the face by a 91 mph baseball on Saturday. He will — for obvious reasons — miss the rest of the season, but he is doing okay and will not need surgery.
In more injury news, Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo had to be carted off the field on Sunday after rolling his ankle.
Depending on the severity of the injury, this could be bad news for a Cubs team trying to secure a berth in the postseason. They entered Sunday with a one-game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers for the National League’s second wild-card spot.
