For the fourth time in the last five years, the Dodgers are in the National League Championship Series, where they will play the Braves beginning Monday, October 12 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

The Dodgers swept away the Padres in Game 3 of their NLDS on Thursday night in Arlington, while the Braves did the same to the Marlins in Game 3 of their division series earlier in the day in Houston.

Both Los Angeles and Atlanta are 5-0 this postseason, the only undefeated teams remaining in these playoffs. The Dodgers outscored the Brewers and Padres 30-11, while the Braves outscored the Reds and Marlins 24-5, including four shutouts in five games.

This NLCS is a battle of the top two run-scoring and home run-hitting teams in MLB during the regular season. The Dodgers scored one more run than the Braves, averaging 5.82 per game compared to Atlanta’s 5.80. The Braves hit 103 home runs, second only to the Dodgers’ 118.

You have a battle of MVP favorites in Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts, young superstars in Cody Bellinger and Ronald Acuña Jr., the return of Dodgers legends Charlie Culberson and Travis d’Arnaud, but perhaps most importantly, Dodgers-Braves gives us Will Smith vs. Will Smith.

This is the fourth postseason series between the two teams, and the first one later than the division series. Atlanta swept the Dodgers in the 1996 NLDS, and Los Angeles outlasted the Braves in four games in both 2013 and 2018, the latter a series that featured many of these same players.

The Dodgers and Braves did play for the pennant before, though not technically a postseason series. In 1959, Los Angeles beat Milwaukee two games to none in the best-of-3 National League tiebreaker to head to their first World Series out west.

Game 1 on Monday has a 5:08 p.m. PT start time on Fox. Games 2 and 3 start at 3:05 p.m. PT, on FS1.
