2020 has been a trying year in many ways, emotionally and physically. It’s been a year of sacrifice, anguish, hardship, and loss for so many. It makes me appreciate the things I’m thankful for even more than usual.
I transitioned from the national site at SB Nation to a more local role, covering the Dodgers and Angels this year. Moving back to run True Blue LA, in the same role I had from 2009-18, was made much easier by everyone in our little community. Getting welcomed back into the fold truly warmed my heart.
Covering baseball in 2020 meant lots of Zoom calls, a daily ritual that stretched from July through October. Outside of two trips to Dodger Stadium during summer camp in July, I did not attend any game in person. It was a very strange experience, asking questions from my apartment before and after watching games on television.
The coverage, both here and at Halos Heaven, couldn’t have happened without the tremendous work from Blake Harris, who also writes about football and basketball for SB Nation’s California sites.
Thanks to everyone reading this, and to everyone for sharing what was an unforgettable season. I hope you all are celebrating Thanksgiving as safely as possible, surrounded — whether virtually or in person — by folks you love.
In the spirit of sharing, I will be at my aunt and uncle’s house for Thanksgiving. Well, outside the house, at least, socially distanced of course. I’m bringing green bean casserole to the small festivities, and would like to know what your favorite Thanksgiving side dishes are. Please let me know in the comments below.
Happy Thanksgiving.
