After dropping the first game of the series, the Dodgers responded with a 6-3 victory over the Mets in Game 2. Tim Belcher was excellent for the Dodgers, as he threw 8 1⁄3 innings. He allowed three runs on only five hits while striking out 10.
LA jumped out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the first two innings. Mike Marshall put the Dodgers on the board in the first inning, driving in Mickey Hatcher with an RBI single. The offense then put up four runs in the second inning, thanks to RBI singles from Steve Sax and Marshall, and a two-RBI double from Hatcher.
The Dodgers will turn to Orel Hershiser tonight, the Cy-Young favorite. He was great in Game 1, though the Dodgers ended up with the loss. He went 8 1⁄3 innings, striking out six and allowing only two runs.
