The Dodgers were able to take two out of three while in New York, as they lead the series 3-2 going back to Los Angeles. After falling behind in the series 2-1, the Dodgers won back-to-back games in New York to take the series lead.
LA won Game 5, thanks to a quality start from Tim Belcher and some hot bats. Belcher gave the Dodgers seven innings, striking out six while allowing four runs. At the plate, Kirk Gibson hit a three-run homer in the fifth to add to the Dodgers’ lead.
It proved to be the difference maker. Mike Marshall had three hits and also drove in a run.
