Dodgers notes: Max Muncy, A.J. Pollock, Gavin Lux, Chris Taylor

Summer camp notes before Wednesday’s intrasquad game

The Dodgers have another intrasquad game on tap on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, so let’s catch up on some notes from earlier today.

Max Muncy, who got a few at-bats in Tuesday’s intrasquad game, got more swings in on Wednesday in a simulated situation against minor league pitcher Michael Grove. Gavin Lux and A.J. Pollock also batted against Grove.

Manager Dave Roberts said Muncy could take ground balls Thursday or Friday, something he hasn’t done since getting hit by a pitch on his left ring finger on July 5.

Chris Taylor, who was scratched from Tuesday’s intrasquad game, is not injured. “We just decided to give him a day,” Roberts said via Zoom on Wednesday. “He’s fine. He’s been grinding. He’ll be back in there today.”

Taylor is playing shortstop Wednesday night.

There’s a chance major league umpires might travel with teams at times during the regular season to help limit travel and cut down on using commercial airports. Kiké Hernandez mentioned this possibility today, and Roberts called it a last resort, but that the team would welcome it in the name of health and safety. “It just speaks to how things are different,” Roberts said.

Alex Wood and Julio Urias get the starts tonight, five days after their last outings.

Per usual, the Dodgers will stream the broadcast of these intrasquad games on their Twitter and Facebook feeds.

Also, it’s Dodgers photographer Jon SooHoo’s birthday.
