The news on Clayton Kershaw is certainly positive, but there is still no timetable for his return. When speaking to reporters on Friday, manager Dave Roberts said that Kershaw received an MRI on Tuesday and it came back clean.
“We’re all encouraged,” Roberts said. “He’s going to treat the heck out of it.”
He said that his pitcher was in better spirits today, a lot better than yesterday. He’s going to get more treatment and will try to keep his arm moving in some capacity today.
Roberts still didn’t give an exact date on when we can expect Kershaw to return to the starting rotation, but he’s remaining optimistic that it’ll come in Arizona sometime next weekend.
Moving forward, Roberts is hesitant to name Dustin May as the official starter next week for the teams series in Houston. “We haven’t penciled in Dustin for that start yet,” Roberts said. “But it’s certainly a good chance.”
When asked why the hesitation with naming May the starter, Roberts said he wanted to keep his options open, but it’s likely May will get the nod.
