When speaking to the media on Saturday afternoon, manager Dave Roberts said we could see Walker Buehler start on Thursday. Buehler last pitched on September 8 but has been sidelined a few weeks with a blister injury.

“He threw today,” Roberts said. “Just got word that he got up to 90 pitches.” According to Roberts, Buehler won’t be on an innings or pitch limit should he start, it will be like a regular start.

Dodgers news and notes

  • Justin Turner returns to the lineup on Saturday. He’ll DH tomorrow as well. He could be back in the field at third base on Tuesday.
  • Although he started the season on the Injured List, this has been one of the better seasons in recent memory for Clayton Kershaw. “He was ready to go from the first game,” Roberts said. “He’s just stayed healthy and competed like we know he can. He’s led this pitching staff like he always has.”

Roberts went on to had that he’s been able to sequence pitches differently than he normally has. Roberts has never seen a player take care of himself like Kershaw, saying the numbers are a by-product of what he’s done. He also went on to add what he’s done in helping the development of Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May and Buehler has been huge too.
