The Dodgers and A’s meet in a battle of teams with the best records in the National League West and American League West, respectively. The A’s have already clinched their division and the Dodgers have clinched a playoff berth, with LA’s magic number at two to clinch the division and NL No. 1 seed.

Dustin May starts for the Dodgers, facing old friend Frankie Montas for Oakland.

“As a replay of ‘88, that would be kind of cool, the last time this team won a World Series, against the A’s,” said Blake Treinen, who was on a pair of 97-win playoff teams with the A’s before signing with the Dodgers last winter. “I’m really excited to be in LA and have an opportunity to play with these guys, this new challenge to play against a bunch of guys that have seen you up close and personal the last three years.

“I guess it’s two-fold. I’ve seen them, and they’ve seen me.”
