Outside of staying sharp to prepare for the postseason, the Dodgers’ final five games are officially meaningless, with the No. 1 seed secured. Beginning with Wednesday night’s game against the Athletics.
The regulars will still play. For one, there are no expanded September rosters like in previous years, just the 28-man roster that has been in place since the third week of the season. Another reason is that the National League wild card round doesn’t start until Wednesday.
“We’re going to have two days off after the season,” manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday. “The position players and the guys in the pen are all in a good place physically.”
