The Dodgers unveiled their 28-player roster for the wild card round against the Brewers, which includes 15 position players and 13 pitchers for the three-game series.

As hinted at on Tuesday, speedster Terrance Gore was added to the team, as well as the 40-man roster. That gives the Dodgers a pinch-running specialist to utilize late in games.

Other than Gore, the position player added to the group that was already active was Matt Beaty, who hit .220/.278/.360 in 21 games and 54 plate appearances during the regular season, a greatly reduced role from his rookie campaign. Beaty was 3-for-8 during last year’s NLDS, appearing in four of the five games.

Keibert Ruiz was added as a third catcher, with infielder Gavin Lux the casualty. Manager Dave Roberts said Lux is a candidate to be added in future series.

“He’s a really good player, but the lack of experience coming off the bench, I just don’t think it was best for him right now,” Roberts said. “As far as having Beaty, an experienced bat off the bench, the bat to ball I think is very helpful, especially some guys they’ve got with velocity.”

Of the 15 pitchers who ended the regular season on the active roster, Alex Wood and Dylan Floro were left off the wild card series roster. Even with those Wood out, the club has three left-handed relievers at the ready in Jake McGee, Adam Kolarek, and Victor González, and four if Julio Urías doesn’t start in Game 3.

Among the 10 Dodgers relief pitchers with at least 15 innings, Floro had the third-best ERA (2.59) and third-best FIP (2.66), striking out 19 and walking four in 24⅓ innings. Roberts said leaving Floro off the wild card series roster was a difficult decision.

“I sit here and talk about ‘performance matters,’ but in this case, ultimately he performed and he still doesn’t have that opportunity,” Roberts said. “I do look forward to him, shall we advance, to be on rosters going forward. He was upset, and he had every right to be upset.”

Another aspect of the Dodgers roster is the inclusion of six rookies — Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May, Brusdar Graterol, Gonzalez, Edwin Rios, and Ruiz. For May, this is his second postseason.

Game 1 of the wild card series starts at 7:08 p.m. PT on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.
