There’s a chance Joe Kelly returns to the Dodgers in 2022, but we may have seen him throw his last pitch in a Dodgers uniform.
On Saturday, the Dodgers decided not to pick up his option for next season. Instead, they’ll pay him a buyout of $4 million. With Kelly’s tenure in Los Angeles potentially coming to an end, I thought it’d be interesting to see what fans thought of his stint with the Dodgers.
Kelly signed a 3 year/$25 million contract following his World Series victory with the Red Sox in 2018.
Overall, Kelly appeared in 115 games for LA. He posted a 3.59 ERA, 116 ERA+, 3.46 FIP, 1.22 WHIP and had a 10.3 SO/9 rate. Not awful numbers, but you can debate whether or not they were worth his contract.
Kelly had his poor moments along with a number of injuries, but he certainly provided fans with many memorable moments.
In case he’s done in Dodger blue, do you think that he was worth the contract?
