The injury bug bites the Dodgers yet again, as AJ Pollock will be heading to the Injured List with a hamstring injury. Pollock exited the game last night and was diagnosed with a left hamstring strain.

Just a week prior, Pollock exited a game after hurting his hamstring in the outfield. The Dodgers were cautious with him, using him only in pinch hit opportunities tp prevent hurting his hamstring.

“It’s going to be a couple of weeks, minimum,” Dave Roberts said when speaking to reporters on Saturday. “Hopefully we can nurse AJ back to health.”

With Pollock being out for at least a couple weeks, it looks as if Matt Beaty will see more starts in left field. Ever since he was brought back from the alternate site, Beaty has been one of the best hitters in baseball.

“Matt Beaty certainly has earned opportunities,” Roberts said. “We’ll see with Peters and Raley, but right now I like Matt out there, pitcher dependent.”

News and notes

  • ICYMI: The Dodgers reportedly signed Albert Pujols (no, seriously)
  • Brusdar Graterol has begun doing long toss. The next step is to get him on the mound, which will hopefully come next week
  • In the Pollock move, the Dodgers called up right-handed pitcher Edwin Uceta. He’ll be available to pitch tonight.
