Trevor Bauer Has To Go

The Dodgers knew what they were getting into.

They knew about Trevor Bauer’s history of on the field behavior. Getting himself shipped out of Arizona because no one liked him. Throwing one of the biggest on field tantrums ever in Cleveland and getting himself sent out of town the next day.

They didn’t care. It was worth it.

They knew Trevor Bauer was a cheater. He openly admitted it. Without loading the ball, Trevor Bauer was a mediocre pitcher for most of six years. Once he started cheating, he was superman.

They didn’t care. It was worth it.

They knew about Trevor Bauer’s off the field harassment. They had to have a press conference when he was signed to address it. Bauer refused to say he would stop and went right back to doing it that very day after Andrew Friedman gave his word the issues were addressed.

They didn’t care. It was worth it.

Now Trevor Bauer faces extremely credible sexual assault allegations. Will they care? Andrew Freidman’s history says they won’t. This is a man who traded for Josh Lueke and covered up Alex Verdugo’s assault of a 17-year-old girl.

They don't care. But who does?

Do you? When you turn on the game, when you go to Dodger Stadium, do you want to root for this person? Do you want to spend your money to hope Trevor Bauer wins one for the Dodgers?

Do his teammates? If you had to work with a person who was facing public sexual assault allegations would you want to look him in the eye? If you had to field question after question about what he did, instead of focusing on your job would you want to have to deal with it?

Does the media? Are you going to just go right back to writing columns about how this person who whines about being unlucky when he allows home runs is an eccentric genius who speaks truth to power? Are you going to feel good about that?

This is your team. This is your escape. The Dodgers may not always make you feel good, but the feelings they make you feel are pure. Trevor Bauer destroys that. If he sticks around, every fifth day you’re going to be asked to sit down and cheer for this person that is an absolute monster. I don’t want to do that. You don’t want to do that, and if this is your team, you should not be asked to do it.

Trevor Bauer has to go. It’s not worth it.
