With the trade deadline wreaking havoc on our sleep schedules this week, and the Dodgers making a huge splash by acquiring Max Scherzer and Trea Turner from the Nationals, we have a second episode of the podcast for you this week.
This one’s a short episode, with our scattershot reactions to Friday’s trade deadline, how we both processed the trickle of news since Thursday, and reacting to both the enormity of the trade and the level of prospects dealt with Keibert Ruiz and Josiah Gray sent to the Nationals.
Danny Duffy was also acquired this week, though he likely won’t be available until possibly September. He seems more like what would have been in previous years a waiver trade in August, only with those outlawed now every team had to make their trades by the July 30 deadline.
We look briefly at the lineup with Trea Turner, trying to remember last week’s vow to never expect “full strength,” plus the financial impact of the trades, with the Dodgers taking on a high amount of money midseason compared to past years.
Thanks to producer Brian Salvatore for the quick turnaround on this episode. We’ll have our regular episode back next week.
