The Dodgers recalled Mitch White from Oklahoma City on Thursday morning, which was expected. White will start the bullpen game for the Dodgers as they wrap up their three-game series in Philadelphia.

In the move, the Dodgers designated veteran right-hander Kevin Quackenbush for assignment.

This will be White’s 16th game with LA this season and his second start. He’s thrown 24 innings and owns a 3.75 ERA, 3.97 FIP and 1.33 WHIP. White’s last three outings have seen him throw at least two innings, including 3 23 innings in his last outing when he made his first start of the season.

White has looked better recently, as he owns a 3.72 ERA while holding opponents to a .194 average over his last three outings. He also has 11 strikeouts and only two walks in 9 23 innings of action. It’s just the home runs recently that have killed him. If he can keep the ball in the park, White can give the Dodgers some shutdown innings.

Quackenbush, 32, made only one appearance with the Dodgers. He came out of the bullpen on Sunday and faced only four batters. He struck out one, but he allowed three hits and allowed a run to score.

The veteran was having a fantastic season in Triple-A before being added to the 26-man roster. He appeared in 30 games in OKC, posting a 0.61 ERA with 14 saves. In 29 innings of action he had 33 strikeouts. Maybe Quackenbush clears waivers and comes back to OKC. If another team claims him, well.. we’ll always have this.

Farewell, Quack man.
