The pitching carousel continues for the Dodgers, as they’ve selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Neftalí Féliz and optioned left-handed pitcher Andrew Vasquez to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
This will be the second stint with LA for Féliz. He appeared in a game on August 23, tossing a scoreless inning in relief. He was designated for assignment the following day, but cleared waivers and re-signed with the organization. He’ll add a fresh arm to a Dodgers bullpen that was taxed over the weekend in San Francisco.
Meanwhile, Vasquez goes down to OKC after appearing in two games with the Dodgers. He allowed one unearned run in 1 2⁄3 innings with three strikeouts. When he appeared for the Dodgers on Friday it was his first major-league game since 2019 with the Twins.
The Dodgers have a four-game series this week in St. Louis and there will likely be a lot of hands on deck out of the bullpen.
Pregame notes
- Steven Souza Jr. is on the taxi squad with the Dodgers in St. Louis. He’s currently not on the 40-man roster, so there would have to be a corresponding move to get him on there.
- Mitch White will take a bulk of the innings on Tuesday. He’ll follow after an opener.
- Andre Jackson is on the taxi squad and Dave Roberts said we could see him in bulk on Wednesday.
- Tony Gonsolin’s outing with the Quakes went well and he came out of it healthy. Roberts said we could see him back with the club ‘soon’.
