The Philadelphia Phillies return home with the first of two chances to secure their second straight appearance in the Fall Classic, while the D-Backs look to fight another day.
The D-Backs will look to accomplish what no team has been able to, in this postseason. That is beating the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. The reigning NL champs have won all of their six home games in the 2023 playoffs.
Meanwhile, in the American League, there is evidence of everything but home-field advantage, as the hosting teams are now 0-6 in this series.
The Rangers went back to Houston trailing in the series 3-2, but thanks to a gutsy performance by the veteran Nathan Eovaldi, Bruce Bochy’s team was able to set up a Game 7.
The two catchers provided the offense, as both Mitch Garver (starting DH) and Jonah Heim went yard, against the lefty Framber Valdez, in this 9-2 win. Leading 4-2 in the ninth, the Rangers put up a five-spot to put this one to bed.
